While you may have a lot of attention on your wedding dress and the honeymoon, it’s equally as important to make sure that you line up the best wedding music that you can. Music is going to set the entire tone of the ceremony and the reception so you’ll want to do everything possible to make things go right.
Choosing the right music
You’ll want to have the music fit into the wedding theme and have something playing that everyone can enjoy. Whether you choose to hire a band or DJ, you’ll need to have a selection of music available to fit into everybody’s taste. If you love heavy metal music, for example, you can’t expect Aunt JoJo to feel the same. Music is such a personal preference that it will be hard to please everybody, but you should at least try. After all, you want your guests to get the most out of your wedding day.
Check out the venue
Every venue has its own sound limitations and you should learn what they are before hiring a DJ or a band. Some places just aren’t set up to handle a loud live band and you’ll have no choice but to hire a DJ. In most cases, however, you will be able to get a band and enjoy them to the fullest.
If you’re planning to have an outside wedding at a garden or in somebody’s backyard, you’ll need to check with the band first to find out what the sound quality will be. Have at least one member of the band go to the wedding location physically to hear the different sounds that are produced in the area. There may be leaves rustling, waves roaring against the shore or the locale may be right in the middle of a wind tunnel.
Figure out the song list ahead of time
Get everything out in the open as far as the song list goes. You certainly don’t want to end up hearing inappropriate songs being played at your wedding. The more precise you are about your expectations for the music the more you can count on everything going swimmingly at your wedding.
While you are probably attached to one genre of music it is important to keep an open mind when you are selecting your songs. Selecting only one music type is the one fatal mistake that can end up ruining the wedding for your guests, which will ultimately put a damper on the wedding for you as well.
